The eighth edition of the T20 Cricket World Cup is just around the corner and 16 great teams from around the world will once again vie for the glittering trophy that is currently in the possession of hosts Australia.

 

ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 Awards

 

The team that wins glory at the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup on November 13 in Melbourne will take home a check for $1.6 million.

 

The $5.6 million prize pool guarantees the runners-up $800,000 and the losing semi-finalists will receive $400,000 each at the end of the 45-match tournament which will be played at seven locations across Australia from October 16th.

 

Following the same structure as the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the eight teams that make it out of the Super 12 stage will each receive US$70,000, with a win in each of the 30 games in that stage worth US$40,000.

 

Where will the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 take place

 

The competition officially starts on October 16, a total of 45 matches will be played across 7 venues - Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

 

The Semis will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Adelaide Oval, the final will be held at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on 13 November.

The Format

 

The format of the event will be group stage matches to determine 4 teams qualified in Round 1, followed by Super 12 (where 8 teams will be waiting for the 4 heats) and then the heats (semi and final).

 

From October 16th, the first round of the T20 World Cup will begin, which will see 8 teams competing for a place in the Super 12 stage of the tournament.

 

The first two teams from Groups A and B advance to the Super 12 stage, where they will face the 8 teams already classified.

 

The Super 12 phase starts on October 22nd and is made up of 2 Groups, each with 6 teams - 4 teams already classified plus two qualifiers each from Round 1.

Trans-Tasman rivals Australia and New Zealand kicked off the Super 12 stage on October 22 at the Sydney Cricket Ground as the high-octane showdown. The India vs Pakistan match is scheduled to be played at the Melbourne CRicket Ground on October 23rd. The teams in both Groups 1 and 2 will face each other once, each with the other teams in their groups to try to finish in the top 2. The top 4 teams (2 from each group) from the Super 12 stage will qualify for the semifinals.

The first semi-final will be played on November 9 in Sydney, while the second semi-final will be played on November 10 in Adelaide.

 

The Final

 

After a two-day break, the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 final will be held at the iconic MMG on November 13
